How US History Repeats Itself

“I’ve been thinking long and hard about 2006,” Bush said Sunday after a visit to wounded troops in San Antonio. “And my hopes of course are for peace around the world. I’m going to continue to work as hard as I can to lay that foundation for peace.” (AP)

For those who are likely to be persuaded by the coming appeals from the White House for “peace in the Middle East,” consider this short history of Iraq.

Contrary to popular belief, Iraq is a relatively new country … roughly 74 years old.

During and immediately following WWI, Great Britain occupied the area known as Mesopotamia, formerly a part of the Ottoman Empire. One of the principle reasons for Great Britain invading this region of the Ottoman Empire was to secure its investment in the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company established in Iran. The area that would become known as Iraq was a vital region for pipelines and shipping.

After the war, the British, in conjunction with the French (secret Sykes-Picot agreement) carved up Mesopotamia to form various countries, one of which was Iraq. In the process, the land formerly known as Kurdistan was eliminated, re-establishing the home of the Kurds in the countries of Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq, all of which border one another. This would create havoc within each of these countries, as the Kurds would initiate battles to regain independence in each.

1920 – 1932: Iraq was declared to be a mandate under British control in 1920 by the League of Nations. This control would be transferred to a ruling family in 1932 (King Faisal, who was friendly to the British), at which point Iraq became a sovereign kingdom. Nuri as-Said served as Prime Minister.

But by 1941 the anti-British sentiment in Iraq had eroded much of the British influence and an invasion by Great Britain ensued as a powerful political faction within Iraq established connections with Nazi Germany.

1958 – Iraq’s pro-British ruling family was ousted in a military coup by General Abd al-Karim Qassim in 1958.

1963 – Qassim was ousted in 1963 in a coup by the newly-established Ba’ath Party. General Ahmad Hasan al-Bakr (Saddam Hussein’s cousin) became Prime Minister, while Colonel Abd as-Salam Arif took over as president.

1963 – Nine months later, Arif staged a successful coup against the Ba’ath government (in an inter-party struggle for ultimate power). His brother succeeded him after his death in a helicopter crash in 1966.

1968 – In July of 1968, the Ba’ath Party staged its own successful coup and returned to power General al-Bakr, who then formed the Revolutionary Command Council (RCC). Saddam Hussein would be named Secretary General and given charge of security measures throughout the country.

1979 – Saddam would assume the presidency in 1979 after his cousin resigned. He would remain the leader of Iraq until he was removed through an invasion of Iraq by the United States military in 2003.

“Peace” isn’t a word with which Iraqis are familiar. From the beginning, the peoples and lands were manipulated for the purpose of advancing the secret commercial agendas of the British and French. Over time, the British influence was challenged and eventually so was the power of pro-British leaders.

Since 1958, the government has changed hands four times in bloody battles launched by political opposition forces.

The people of Iraq aren’t crazed lunatics, as the propaganda would portray them. Rather, they are a diverse people subject to major political battles for power. Now that the U.S. invasion has established Americans as the power base, there are those seeking to cozy up with the U.S. government, while others adamantly reject the notion of Iraq returning to puppet rule under the auspices of Western power.

The U.S. government isn’t seeking to find peace, which cannot be established with U.S. military presence. Rather, the U.S. government is seeking to establish enough of a stable political power (friendly to the U.S.) through military and security measures throughout the nation, in order to begin the process of reaping the benefits of massive oil exports that would pay back the war investment several times over in the coming decades.

Iraq is considered the world’s third largest source of oil reserves. And while Iraq’s political turmoil and involvement in war with Iran (1980-88) have severely hampered its ability to take advantage of its own resources, energy reports offer optimism for oil companies seeking to invest in Iraq because the outlay necessary to get the oil from beneath the sand is relatively cheap, thereby increasing the profit to be gained.

Nevertheless, the problem today remains in establishing control to the degree that safety and security isn’t compromised. Unfortunately, the U.S. government, like Great Britain, has little regard or reverence for religion and the religious beliefs of the indigenous peoples. We see the secular influence of our government within our own culture and throughout our society. Such an influence was, and is, patently rejected by a greater majority of the Islamic world.

Success for the U.S. in Iraq is not measured in the capacity to restore that country. Restoring it means bringing it back to pre-invasion status. While Saddam’s regime was lauded in the past by many (including the U.S. government) for economic advancements made, the advancements were made under the rule of a dictatorship, which has been the norm for Iraq since its inception.

If Americans know the history, perhaps we can keep from repeating it.

Great Britain was successful in installing puppet leaders in Iraq … for a time. The entire time it was filled with tumult. Eventually, the British allowed Iraq to go its own way while concentrating on its problems in Iran, which also rebelled and eventually ousted the British and remains anti-western powers to this very day.

The histories of Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia, three Islamic nations sitting on trillions of barrels of oil reserves, are replete with the names of two western powers … Great Britain and the United States. Not until 2001 did the majority of Americans care anything about any of the Middle East Islamic countries. The wakeup call did not unfortunately turn our attention to the numerous involvements of our government in the Arab world, but rather it gave rise to a blind allegiance of support for our government to do anything it desired under the banner of “national security.”

And until Americans are aware of the WHOLE truth, we will continue to sacrifice our brave men and women of the military upon an altar of political ignorance and apathy.

In this new year, it behooves us all to become educated regarding the covert operations and secret decisions being made by our government in the name of “freedom and democracy.” These decisions, made by unknown and un-elected individuals who are motivated by unknown agendas affect us all and place each and every one of us in danger of being the next victim of the “war on terror.”

My book reveals the secret agreements, the secret histories, the secret operations, the secret handshakes and deals and relationships that have created the current battles we witness in the news. The words of our leaders are transparent when you know the WHOLE truth. And until the WHOLE truth is known, we will remain a nation of sheep being led to slaughter. And the worst part about it is that we aren’t following the Shepherd, but rather other sheep that willingly sacrifice themselves worshipping false principles commonly referred to as “American values.”

The WHOLE truth paints a clear picture that will free us all from the bondage of propaganda, lies and distortions of truth. When we know the WHOLE truth we can break free of the chains of servitude to political leaders that lie and a government that hates the truth.

Jesus said that Satan is the father of all lies. My book was written to expose the truth so that you will know it when you hear lies and see lies in the “war on terror.”

The one thing my book cannot do is to decide which side you will serve once your eyes are opened. You must decide for yourself. But, once you know the WHOLE truth, you will forever be changed and unable to go back to the innocence of ignorance.

It is our responsibility to do all we can to help those brave men and women who risk their lives on our behalf. They have left all they know behind in order to kill and potentially be killed fighting to advance an agenda they believe is righteous and good.

It is our job to ensure that the agenda our military fights to advance is indeed righteous, moral, and good. If it isn’t, then it is inherent in our responsibility as a public to do all we can use the electoral process to remove those that sacrifice our sons and daughters for political and commercial gain, substituting them with leaders who can be trusted to operate from a moral foundation and an allegiance to God … rather than themselves.

And if we fail as a public to take the time to learn the WHOLE truth, then who can we blame but ourselves when the WHOLE truth is finally revealed through time?

Take the time today and begin the process of learning the WHOLE truth. It took me three years of meticulous research and documentation to piece together the puzzle that revealed quite a different picture than that which our leaders show us.

Read my book today. And when the president begins his upcoming address to the nation (State of the Union), you will be armed with the truth and the ability to discern between that which is true and that which is propaganda and lies.
