Bush: America is ‘winning the war in Iraq’
There truly is no doubt that the United States has a far superior military than Iraq. Moreover, no one doubts that we can destroy every town, village and hut in every desert of Iraq.
But is that how we define victory?
Thus far, the president has sung the same refrain, constantly whistling the tune of victory or defeat, while refraining from explaining exactly what victory looks like to the military or to the American people.
But the answer is relatively simple for most of us. When we subdue our enemies, we consider that victory.
“Not only can we win the war in Iraq — we are winning the war in Iraq.”
President George Bush – December 17, 2005
Unfortunately, Bush has complicated the issue because his plan isn’t to subue, but to transform.
In the simple definition of “winning,” if one is thinking in terms of battles and numbers of dead and wounded … then surely it appears as though we are “winning.” But under that definition, the only way we “win” is if all of our enemies are dead or captured and no more are being cultivated … and Iraq is completely under our control.
Unfortunately, that is the very definition Bush is using to speak to a nation that doesn’t understand, while simultaneously addressing those who do understand with a very different definition of “winning.”
Bush’s true definition of “winning” is transformation. And under this definition, America is not winning and will not win. Bush is lying.
In other words, Bush is seeking to turn Saddam’s Iraq of the 21st century into the former Shah’s Iran (1953 – 1979) which enabled the U.S. and Great Britain to control and exploit the oil reserves from that country until the people’s revolution ousted the Shah and turned Iran into a permanent enemy of the U.S. and Great Britain.
Victory or a “win” in Iraq to Bush would resemble a fundamentalist Iranian country on one side, the headquarters of Islam (Saudi Arabia) on the other side and a democratic Iraq smack in the middle. Undoubtedly, this would also entail control over Iraq’s massive oil reserves, some of which are so huge that just one “elephant” field is said to equal the entire oil reserves of Exxon, the world’s largest oil company.
Congressional leaders are asking Bush to explain what he means by victory in Iraq. And yet, he has done just that. The problem is that too many of our leaders are ill-informed. That is why I wrote this book.
Bush intends to democratize Iraq.
No, our military was not designed for such missions. No, there was no need to send our military into Iraq from the beginning. But now that the path toward democracy has been stated as the goal, rest assured that there will be no victory in Iraq for America.
The reason I say such a thing is not because we might lost a battle somewhere down the line. I doubt that. We are superior militarily. But this isn’t a job for the military. Destruction and mayhem will not succeed in changing the minds of millions of Muslims who will not agree to a secular government ruling a religious people.
In America, Christians will rage about the direction of our culture, and stand opposed to the government running roughshod over family values, principles and religious morals in public schools, but it is the Christians that have handed over power to a secular leadership and stood in support of the clandestine and immoral activities of that same secular leadership over the past 50 years or more.
If Bush believes he can create an American culture in Iraq, and drive a wedge between Sunnis and Shiites through threats, intimidation, bribes and promises of power to one over the other, while cozying up to the Kurds and brandishing military might whenever necessary … then I have to say that Bush and I believe very different things.
“I know that some of my decisions have led to terrible loss and not one of those decisions has been taken lightly,” he said. “I know that this war is controversial, yet being your president requires doing what I believe is right and accepting the consequences.”
President George Bush – Dec. 17, 2005
It is sad that a man with such power is unable to understand that a mother whose son is in Iraq isn’t consoled with the notion that her son is following orders based upon controversial decisions. Bush’s remarks during his radio address to the nation yesterday demonstrated that he is clearly committed to sacrificing more lives in an effort to achieve what he considers victory.
His attempt to scare Americans who are ignorant of the facts in the War on Terror may work for now. But as the TRUTH spreads throughout our nation and the world, no longer will people fear that “terrorists” will lurk within the borders of our country, awaiting an opportunity to destroy people at random.
Those of us who know the TRUTH, understand that this war isn’t random, isn’t a “terrorist threat” against the American people, and isn’t being fought by our military in defense of America.
To uncover the WHOLE truth behind the U.S. War on Terror, and plainly see behind the facade being painted by our president and his supporters, please read my book today and then join the bandwagon of TRUTH so when it rolls into Washington D.C. our leaders will see the many faces within an entire nation that is fed up with propaganda, lies and distortions of truth at the expense of our brave military men and women.
